Imagine Communications and EVS Win IBC2015 Best-of-Show Honors from TV Technology Europe
Imagine Communications, a global leader in video and advertising solutions serving the media and entertainment, multichannel video programming distributors and enterprise markets, and EVS, the technology leader in live broadcast and media technology for sports, news and entertainment, have received the IBC2015 Best of Show Award for the comprehensive live and sports production solution resulting from their recently unveiled alliance. The NewBay Media Best of Show Award was presented by TV Technology Europe on September 14 in Amsterdam.
The alliance, announced on September 10, provides media companies with a best-of-breed solution for live production, slow motion and instant replay operations. It combines industry-leading video production and content management solutions from EVS with Imagine Communications’ market-leading routing and processing platforms. The combined solution supports both SMPTE 2022 and JPEG2000 (J2K) standards for workflow solutions that bring increased agility and cost efficiencies to live production environments.
“This award recognizes the alliance between Imagine Communications and EVS that, in the judges’ opinion, effectively proves interoperability between mission-critical equipment from different vendors and with different protocols,” explained James McKeown, executive editor of TV Technology Europe. “The awards program was built to honor real innovation such as that demonstrated with this alliance, and we’re delighted to be able to offer a measure of support to those pushing the boundaries of development with our expanding industry.”
“EVS is proud to collaborate with Imagine Communications, leading the way for fully interoperable, end-to-end live production workflows,” said James Stellpflug, VP of product marketing, EVS. “This is the beginning of a path of openness and collaboration that will benefit media companies, brand owners and rights holders and pave the way for the higher-quality content, operational efficiency and flexibility needed in today’s media environment.”
By embracing IP standards, EVS and Imagine Communications are helping media companies modernize their live production environments and overcome some of the constraints of SDI technology. The ability to extend the transmission range of high-quality video signals to centralized production facilities enables media companies to reduce the costs and complexity of covering live events at sporting venues and other remote locations.
“We are extremely gratified to be recognized for our commitment to industry standards and for building out an ecosystem capable of bringing the media and entertainment industry state-of-the-art and best-of-breed solutions,” said Steve Reynolds, Chief Technology Officer, Imagine Communications. “We look forward to evolving our relationship with EVS to continue to deliver our customers solutions that address today’s challenges and seize upon tomorrow’s opportunities.”
The joint solution, demonstrated at IBC2015, includes Imagine Communications Selenio™ MCP with SMPTE 2022 Uncompressed-Over-IP (UCIP) and J2K interfaces and the Magellan™ SDN Orchestrator, which simultaneously manages the routing and control of all IP and SDI signals. Technology from EVS includes the XT3 media production server, with the new EVS XiP gateway option to enable uncompressed SMPTE 2022 IP media flows to IP production fabrics.
